LTMNU Organizational Communication in Building Synergy Among Mosque Management Committees to Enliven The Mosque

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the organizational communication established by the Nahdlatul Ulama Mosque Management Institute (LTMNU) in Sukodono District, Sidoarjo Regency, to foster synergy among mosque management committees (takmir) and support mosque revitalization. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that LTMNU’s organizational communication operated through integrated vertical, horizontal, and external communication channels. Vertical communication was implemented through coordination, guidance, consultation, and reporting mechanisms connecting regency-level administrators, district-level officials, and mosque management committees. Horizontal communication was developed through routine monthly forums that functioned as platforms for networking, experience sharing, problem-solving, and capacity building among mosque managers. Meanwhile, external communication was established inclusively through partnerships with district and village governments, security institutions, Nahdlatul Ulama autonomous organizations, and other relevant stakeholders. Communication patterns based on persuasion, participation, egalitarian values, and collaboration strengthened synergy among mosque management committees, thereby contributing to improved governance quality and mosque revitalization in Sukodono District.
